Guide to the Mahabharat Oracle

A Guide to all 38 Oracle Cards (in বাংলা, हिंदी & English)

PRELUDE

যা নেই ভারতে, তা নেই ভারতে (what is not in the Mahabharata, is not in India)

We all know one or two things about the great epic of Mahabharat. There are many versions of the saga. The original composer of the epic was Krishna Dwaipayan Vyas, aka Vyasdev who narrated the shlokas and Lord Ganesh wrote it. The incidents of Mahabharat took place some 5100-5200 years ago in Dwapar Yug (After Sri Krishna left his human body, Kali Yug started). And this is proven by research and literary works.

In the sacred pages of the Mahabharata lies more than just an epic tale of war and victory—it holds the eternal mirror of human nature itself. Every character who walked the blood-soaked fields of Kurukshetra carries within them the archetypal energies that live within us all. From the righteous struggle of Arjuna to the blind ambition of Duryodhana, from Draupadi’s fierce strength to Krishna’s divine wisdom—each soul represents a facet of our own spiritual journey.

This oracle deck awakens the ancient wisdom that has guided seekers for over 5,000 years. When you draw a card, you’re not merely reading about a mythological figure—you’re connecting with the cosmic forces that shape destiny itself. The warriors, kings, queens, and sages of this timeless epic become your spiritual guides, offering insights that transcend time and space.

The Mahabharata teaches us that life is not about avoiding the battlefield, but about choosing which side of dharma we stand on. In these cards, you’ll find the courage of Abhimanyu, the devotion of Barbarik, the transformation of Hidimba, and the guiding light of Vyasdev. Each character’s journey reflects the eternal dance between light and shadow, duty and desire, wisdom and folly that plays out in every human heart.

Let these sacred archetypes illuminate your path. The answers you seek are not in the cards themselves, but in the ancient wisdom they awaken within your soul.

The battle for truth begins within.

Note: The card meaning of the Mahabharat Oracle deck is available in 3 language- Bengali, Hindi & English to reach wider audience.

I have read the Bengali translation of the original Mahabharat (the one composed by Vyasdev and translated by Rajshekhar Basu, 13th edition). The descriptions of the characters are taken from this original version instead of TV shows or other misrepresentations. The TV shows often change the narratives to gain popularity. As an example, the 1988 BR Chopra Mahabharat has depicted that Draupadi humiliated Duryodhan in Pandav’s Maya Palace- which is not true and was a mere effort to justify her vastra-haran- whereas in actual no such thing happened and Duryodhan wanted to humiliate Draupadi without any reason. The 2013 Star Plus Mahabharat did not even depict Kripacharya and Kritabarma. Most versions of the Mahabharat depict Karna as a hero, which is wrong- because as per the original scriptures, Karna was one of the main villains who humiliated Draupadi. Plus, Karna is portrayed as someone unlucky which is far from reality given the fact that he was well taken care of by his foster-parents in childhood and later was made a king (of Anga Rajya that is current day Bengal, Bihar and Orissa).

If you want to know the actual incidents of the epic, you need to read the original Mahabharat written by Vyasdeb or its translations or even Kashidasi version. I am also thankful to lectures of Ami Ganatra, that made me interested to read the actual scriptures rather than relying on the TV show versions.
